More than 50 founding members from 8 European countries have founded the first international umbrella organization for equality dance sport in London on Feb 18, 2007. Since then, the European Same Sex Dance Association (ESSDA) has coordinated equality dance tournaments in Europe and has defined the rules for the sport. In the spirit of tolerance and integration, ESSDA’s objective is to foster and popularize same sex tournament dance, create communication and organizational structures beyond borders and ensure consistently high tournament standards. ESSDA awarded the first official European Championship titles during the Euro Games 2011 in Rotterdam.
The annual assembly of ESSDA members is an essential pillar of the organization’s work and allows the “base” to have an impact on the international development of our sport.
